In the style of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, join us at The Pilgrims Inn as a merry company rests on their journey to St Edward’s shrine in Shaftesbury, entertaining with tales of murder, miracles, music and mayhem.
Taking a mischievous peek into life a thousand years ago, The Shaftesbury Tales troupe is walking from Corfe Castle to Shaftesbury, stopping to perform interactive family shows along the way. Selected from a writing competition, stories by local people are woven through the central tale of Edward the Martyr, the teenage King who suffered a terrible fate. What happened when? Who saw what? Who lived to tell the tale, and who didn’t?!
Every show is different, with its own unique cast and tales. Alongside Treehouse Theatre, members of Sturminster Newton Amateur Dramatics Society (SNADS) and children from St Andrew’s Primary School, Fontmell Magna, will perform. All of the winning stories can be read in the accompanying show programme.
