The bunkhouse accommodation at Springhead can accommodate groups of between 15 and 37 adults or children in a range of rooms. Should groups require any additional beds, separate historic house accommodation is sometimes available for up to 10 additional people in a newly renovated listed building.
Bedrooms and dormitories: Most of the bunkhouse bedrooms are basic hostel-style with bunk beds, but there are also some twin and single rooms. All rooms are in good decorative order, with clean and modernised toilets and washing facilities. All bedding is provided. The following bedrooms and dormitories are available for schools and large groups:
The cottage (8 people)
- Cottage room 1, with 3 bunk beds
- Cottage room 2, with 2 single beds
Mill building (2 people)
An 18th century mill, this listed building is the hub of Springhead’s activities. The dining room and kitchen are downstairs, and in addition to the recreation rooms upstairs there is one bedroom:
- Twin en suite bedroom with disabled access to the garden and a wet room.
The Stables (15 people) and Fruit Store (12 people)
Just on the other side of the courtyard from the Mill building, these former stables now house dormitory rooms:
- Stable 1 – 1 single bed
- Stable 2 – 2 bunk beds
- Stable 3 – 5 bunk beds
Adjoining the stables, the former fruit store now comprises two further rooms:
- Fruit store 1 – 2 single beds
- Fruit store 2 – 5 bunk beds
Recreation rooms: Two large reception rooms are located on the first floor of the main mill building and overlook the picturesque lake and gardens. The larger room, the Mill Room, can seat up to 60 people theatre style and is ideal for workshops and presentations. The Lounge Room offers comfortable wicker chairs; a piano; a fireplace with a log burner and French doors leading onto the gardens.
Car Parking: There is a car park at the rear of the grounds, which can be approached via a lane off Mill Street and has space for 40 cars. Cars must not be left in the courtyard. Where groups are arriving by coach it should be noted that the driver is required to drop his/her passengers in the car park and not at the lower pedestrian entrance. No liability is accepted for loss or damage of vehicles or contents.
Disabled access: A pathway suitable for wheelchairs leads from Springhead’s car park to the main buildings. Pathways from the courtyard to the kitchen gardens and car park are also being upgraded to provide disabled access. Fully accessible toilet facilities are provided on the ground floor and the en-suite bedroom on the first floor has disabled access and facilities.
Gardens: Groups booking the centre have use of the extensive lakeside gardens and orchard. Picnic tables, barbeque and camp fire areas are available.
